Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 38 year old farmer at Warrenton in Warren County, GA. He enlisted there as a substitute for James F Fowler on 4 September 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company B, 48th Georgia Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the leg in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was back with his company by December 1862 and served with them to June 1863. He was then in hospital and on sick furlough home into October. He was again on duty to April 1864 but died of pneumonia at home in Warren County, GA on 18 June 1864.
