Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 24 year old farmer at Hickory Head in the Lancaster District, SC. He enlisted on 10 July 1862 at Columbia, SC and mustered as a Private in Company G of the 2nd South Carolina Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, VA on 30 September and sent home on furlough for 30 days on 27 October. He was back with his company by December 1862. He died of typhoid fever in a hospital in Richmond, VA on 5 August 1863.
