Before Sharpsburg

Age 30, he enlisted in Columbia, SC on 1 July 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company C of the 2nd South Carolina Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, VA on 4 October and furlough on 10 October to Pendleton, SC. He transferred to Company B of the Palmetto Sharpshooters (First Regiment Palmetto Sharp Shooters, South Carolina Volunteers) on 2 February 1863 in exchange for T.J. Smith.

He was wounded again by a gunshot to his right arm in May 1864, probably in the Wilderness, VA and furloughed home from a hospital in Richmond, VA on 5 August. He was listed as absent without leave as of December 1864. He was captured at Anderson, SC on 19 May 1865 with no later military record.
