In 1860 he was a 25 year old farm worker in the Union District, SC. He enlisted at Lancaster Court House, SC on 28 April 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company A of the 2nd South Carolina Infantry on 22 May.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His widow Hester applied for his final pay of $81.23 in October 1862.
