Before Sharpsburg

A 20 year old farmer, he enlisted at Camden, SC on 8 April 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company E of the 2nd South Carolina Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, VA on 26 September, furloughed to Mayesville on 30 September, and returned to duty on 14 January 1863. He was wounded again, probably at Gettysburg, PA and returned to his company on 1 August 1863. He was wounded again, at Bean Station, VA on 14 December 1863. He was retired to the Invalid Corps on 28 December 1864 with no later military record.
