Age 34, from the Orangeburg District, SC, he enlisted there on 1 July 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company K of the 2nd South Carolina Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and captured there.

The rest of the War

He was sent to Fort McHenry in Baltimore, MD by 12 November He was wounded again, at Chickamauga, GA on 20 September 1863. He was wounded for the third time, by a gunshot to the head about 2 July 1864, place not given. He was furloughed home on 12 July with no later military record.
