Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he was a 19 year old farmer living with his parents and 3 siblings at Twelve Mile in the Pickens District, SC. He enlisted in Columbia, SC on 1 July 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company A, 2nd South Carolina Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
