Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was an unmarried 20 year old farmer living with his parents, 3 siblings, and 9 slaves at Rock Mills, Randolph County, AL. He enrolled at Montgomery, AL on 19 July 1861 and was elected 2nd Lieutenant of Company I (L?), 13th Alabama Infantry. He was promoted to First Lieutenant on 10 July 1862 in Richmond, VA.

On the Campaign

He was with his company on South Mountain on 14 September and was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
