A married 28 year old farmer in Roanoke, AL, he enlisted at Montgomery, AL on 19 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company I, 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863 and captured in the Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864. He died while a prisoner in Elmira, NY on 26 December 1864.
