Before Sharpsburg

A married 23 year old farmer in Weogufka (or Rockford), AL, he enlisted in Coosa County, AL on 7 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company H, 13th Alabama Infantry. He was on detail as a brigade teamster in June and July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was detailed again as a teamster from May to at least July 1863. He transferred to Company A of the 5th Alabama Infantry Battalion on 9 November 1863 and was with them to at least February 1865, his latest military record.
