A married 27 year old farmer at Rockford, Coosa County, AL, he enlisted there on 26 March 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company H, 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was probably with his company in action on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September, but was listed as having deserted from his unit at Shepherdstown, VA on 18 or 19 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He did not return to his company and was paroled by Federal authorities at Montgomery, AL on 8 June 1865.
