Before Sharpsburg

An unmarried 34 year old mechanic at Camden, AL, he enlisted at Bridgeport, AL on 6 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company A, 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in a hospital in Richmond, VA from 14 October to 27 November 1862. He was captured at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863, briefly at Fort McHenry, MD, then held at Fort Delaware. He was exchanged on 18 September 1864, admitted to a hospital in Richmond on 22 September, and sent to Camp Winder near Richmond on 18 October with no later military record.
