Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was an ambrotypist (photographer) living in John C Corley's hotel in Troy, Pike County, AL. He enlisted at Yorktown, VA on 8 February 1862, and mustered as a Private in Company G, 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He transferred to Company E, 10th Georgia Infantry Battalion on 18 January 1863 and was with them to December of 1864, when he was granted a furlough of indulgence to 20 January 1865. He was held by a Federal Provost Marshal at Portsmouth, VA as a "deserter from the rebel army" by 12 April 1865 with no later military record.
