An unmarried 27 year old farmer in Richmond, VA, he enlisted there on 1 (or 19) August 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company E, 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was killed in action at Chancellorsville, VA on 3 May 1863.
