An unmarried 24 year old tailor in Montgomery, AL he enlisted there on 19 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company B, 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was a prisoner at Fort Delaware until 2 October, when he was sent to Aikens' Landing, VA for exchange. He was formally exchanged on 10 November 1862 and was in Virginia hospitals often in 1863. He was listed as missing, presumed captured in the Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864 with no later military record.
