Before Sharpsburg

A married 23 year old farmer from Traveler's Rest, AL, he enlisted in Coosa County, AL on 22 August 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company H, 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September but was ill and not with them at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was at Gettysburg, PA on 1-3 July 1863, but was left behind on the return march, sick, in a hospital in Hagerstown, MD, and supposed to have died there about 8 July.
