Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a married 40 year old farm worker at Mt. Olive in Coosa County, AL. He enlisted there on 8 or 9 March 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company H, 13th Alabama Infantry. He was wounded at Seven Pines, VA on 31 May 1862 and afterward on 60 days furlough into August.

On the Campaign

Initially listed as wounded, he was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
