Before Sharpsburg
An unmarried 20 year old student from Greenville, AL, he enrolled at Montgomery, AL on 19 July 1861 and mustered as 2nd Lieutenant of Company G, 13th Alabama Infantry. He was promoted to First Lieutenant on 1 February 1862 and to Captain on 16 June.
On the Campaign
He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was on leave in the first part of 1863, but was afterward with his company until he was killed at Cold Harbor, VA on 3 June 1864.
