A 22 year old farmer from Coosa County, AL, he enlisted there on 2 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company H, 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was captured at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863 and a prisoner at Fort Delaware until 14 June 1865, when he took an oath of allegiance to the United States and was released.

After the War

By 1880 he was a farmer in Faulkner County, AR and in 1900 in Grant County, AR.
