Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 21 year old living with his parents, 2 younger siblings, and 1 slave on their farm at Prairie Bluff in Wilcox County, AL. He gave his occupation as student when he enlisted at Bridgeport, AL on 6 July 1861 and he mustered as a Private in Company A of the 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
