Before Sharpsburg

A married 22 year old farmer from Roanoke, AL, he enlisted there on 15 (or 28) February 1862 and he mustered as a Private in Company I of the 13th Alabama Infantry. He deserted his unit in June 1862 and was returned under guard in August.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September but deserted them on 16 September 1862 "to avoid battle" at Sharpsburg the next day.

The rest of the War

He was "never heard from since."
