Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 22 year old overseer of 21 or more slaves on Cynthia Gunn's farm at Oak Bowery in Chambers County, AL. He enlisted on 19 July 1861 in Montgomery, AL and mustered as First Sergeant of Company B of the 13th Alabama Infantry. He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant on 20 October 1861 and promoted to First Lieutenant on 10 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was killed at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863.
