Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was an unmarried 28 year old surgeon and dentist in Rockford, AL. He enlisted on 12 May 1862 in Coosa County, AL and mustered as a Private in Company H of the 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was captured at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863 and a prisoner at Fort Delaware from 6 July 1863 to 14 June 1865 when he took an oath of allegiance to the United States and was released.

After the War

In 1866 he lived in Walker County, AL but by 1880 and to at least 1900 he was a physician in Yell County, AR.
