He enlisted on 2 August 1861 near Harrisburg, TX and mustered as a Private in Company D, 5th Texas Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded at Chickamauga, GA in September 1863 and furloughed home for 30 days on 29 September. He was captured while scouting near Mossy Creek/Morristown, TN on 4 March 1864 and sent to the prison at Camp Chase, OH by way of Knoxville, TN and Louisville, KY on 13 April. He was sent to City Point, VA for exchange on 25 February 1865 with no later military record.
