Before Sharpsburg

Age 23, from Roanoke in Randolph County, AL, he enlisted on 19 July 1861 in Montgomery, AL and mustered as 2nd Corporal of Company I of the 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to First Corporal on 1 January 1863. He was captured in the Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864 and was a prisoner at Point Lookout, MD to 12 August, when he was transferred to the prison at Elmira, NY. He died there of disease on 1 May 1865.
