An unmarried 27 year old farmer from Buyckville in Coosa County, AL, he enlisted on 15 September 1861 at Yorktown, VA and mustered as a Private in Company C of the 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His father Dempsey filed for his final pay of $172.23 in March 1863.
