Before Sharpsburg

An unmarried 34 year old clerk, he enlisted on 6 July 1861 at Camden, AL and mustered as First Sergeant of Company A of the 13th Alabama Infantry. He was elected 2nd Lieutenant on 7 December 1861 and promoted to First Lieutenant on 2 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of typhoid fever at Martinsburg, VA on 25 September 1862.
