Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 19 year old farmer at Rockdale in Randolph County, AL. He enlisted on 4 September 1861 at Eastville, AL and mustered as a Private in Company E of the 13th Alabama Infantry. He transferred to Company D in June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
