Before Sharpsburg

An unmarried 20 year old farmer at Lost Creek, AL. He enlisted on 26 July 1861 at Montgomery, AL and mustered as a Private in Company E of the 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was mortally wounded in the right leg and captured at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863. His leg was amputated but he died in a Federal field hospital there on 25 July 1863.

His service from his Compiled Service Records1 online from fold3, and from the Alabama Archives,2 which says he was killed outright at Gettysburg. Death detail also from the Buseys.3
