Before Sharpsburg

A married 27 year old merchant in Greenville, AL, he enlisted as Private in Company G, 13th Alabama Infantry on 19 July 1861 in Montgomery.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September an was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to the 3rd Alabama Hospital in Richmond, VA on 26 September and furloughed on 1 October. He was wounded again, at Chancellorsville, VA on 3 May 1863 and his right arm was amputated. He was furloughed home from the 3rd Alabama Hospital on 9 July 1863. He was retired for disability, date not given.

After the War

By 1880 he was a farmer at Opelika in Lee County, AL.
