Before Sharpsburg

An unmarried 23 year old farmer at Wedowee, AL, he enlisted in Montgomery, AL on 26 July 1861 and mustered as 2nd Corporal of Company K of the 13th Alabama Infantry. He was reduced to Private on 3 May 1862 and was wounded at Malvern Hill, VA on 1 July.

On the Campaign

He was back with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was with his company for most of their battles, except Gettysburg and the Wilderness on furlough, to at least June 1864. He was furloughed home to Randolph County in October 1864 with no later military record.
