Before Sharpsburg

An unmarried 18 year old farmer at Lamar, AL, he enlisted in Brookville, AL on 12 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company K of the 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded at Chancellorsville, VA on 3 May 1863. He was back with his company by September 1863 and was surrendered and paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.
