Before Sharpsburg

A married 25 year old farmer from Buckhannon, AL, he enlisted at Roanoke, AL on 15 February 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company I of the 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was a prisoner at Fort Delaware until 2 October when he was sent to Aikens' Landing, VA for exchange. He was in a hospital in Richmond from 29 October to 6 November, and formally exchanged to return to duty on 10 November 1862. He was court-martialed, charge not given, on 12 May 1863 and in arrest to at least October 1863. He was wounded by a gunshot in the Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864 and on furlough to at least August 1864 with no later military record.
