Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was an unmarried 17 year old farmer living with his parents and 5 siblings on their small farm at Wedowee, AL. He enlisted in Eastville, AL on 6 September 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company E of the 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his company at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was killed in action at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863.
