Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was an unmarried 17 year old farm laborer living with 5 younger siblings next door to his parents at Mt Olive in Coosa County, AL. He enlisted in Coosa County on 27 March 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company H of the 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was captured at Gettysburg, PA in July 1863 and died of disease while a prisoner at Fort Delaware on 31 October 1863.
