Before Sharpsburg
An unmarried 18 year old farmer from Goldridge, AL, he enlisted in Eastville, AL on 5 September 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company E of the 13th Alabama Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He transferred to Company F of the 19th Georgia Infantry on 15 December 1862.
He was captured on the Weldon Railroad near Petersburg, VA on 19 August 1864 and was held at Point Lookout, MD. He was released there after enlisting for United States service on 15 October 1864.
