Before Sharpsburg

An unmarried 27 year old merchant from Wetumpka, AL, he enlisted in Montgomery, AL on 19 July 1861 and mustered a Private in Company C, 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was wounded in the face in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, VA on 27 September, furloughed home from 18 October to about January 1863, in action again at Chancellorsville, VA on 3 May, but sent on detail as a wagoner from 25 May 1863 to the end of the war.
