Before Sharpsburg

An unmarried 22 year old bookseller, he enlisted in Montgomery, AL on 19 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company B, 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September with them at Sharpsburg to the 16th, but absent without leave on the 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He rejoined his unit but by June 1863 was under arrest and in Castle Thunder in Richmond, VA, with no later record with the 13th Alabama.

He transferred as a Private to Company C of the 35th Georgia Infantry by December 1863 and was with them to at least June 1864, the last record in his military file.
