Before Antietam

In 1860 he was a 28 year old laborer at Dillsburg in York County, PA. He enlisted on 25 June 1861 and mustered as First Sergeant of Company G, 12th Pennsylvania Reserves on 10 August. He was wounded at New Market Crossroads/Glendale, VA on 30 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds on 9 October 1862.
