Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was an unmarried 20 year old living with his parents, siblings, and (?) slaves on their plantation near Montgomery, AL. He enlisted there on 19 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company C, 13th Alabama Infantry. He was promoted to Corporal on 11 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his company at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was sent home on furlough on 6 February 1863 and was in a Richmond, VA hospital on 2 May. He was sent to CS General Hospital #2 in Danville, VA on 11 May and died there of chronic diarrhea on 17 June 1863.
