Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Montgomery, AL on 26 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company K, 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his company at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to 5th Sergeant on 1 December 1862. He was captured in the Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864 and was a prisoner at Point Lookout, MD from 17 May to 18 September 1864, when he sent to Aikens' Landing, VA for exchange. He was admitted to Howard's Grove General hospital in Richmond, VA on 24 September and died there of chronic diarrhea on 20 or 21 October 1864.
