Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a married 24 year old carpenter in Montgomery, AL. He enlisted there on 19 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company B, 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his company at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He continued with his company in all their battles to at least August 1864 and was surrendered and paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.

After the War

By 1870 he was a wheelwright in Montgomery, AL.
