Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 20 year old farmhand living with E.H. Narsworthy & wife, and 3 slaves on the Narsworthy farm at Equality in Coosa County, AL. He enlisted in Montgomery, AL on 19 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company C, 13th Alabama Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was with his company in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of disease on 6 January 1864 at Mt. Jackson, VA.

His widow Ann filed a claim for his final pay in July 1864.
