He re-enlisted as a veteran on December 21, 1863. Promoted to first sergeant on January 24, 1865. Mustered out with company on June 30, 1865, at Alexandria, Va. Commissioned, not mustered, second lieutenant, on July 1, 1865, with rank from May 18, 1865. His name appears as Tuohy in the casualty list, which shows him in Company G, not Company F.
