He was wounded in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to the US Army General Hospital at Camp B in Frederick, MD on 22 December and left the hospital on 26 February 1863. He was granted a disability pension in April 1863.
