Before Antietam
He enlisted in Knox County, IN and mustered on 7 June 1861 as a Private in Company G, 14th Indiana Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was wounded by a gunshot to his left shoulder in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was admitted to US Army General Hospital #4 in Frederick, MD on 22 September and sent on to Washington, DC on 28 September. He was discharged for disability from wounds on 23 January 1863 and began receiving a pension for disability in November 1864.
