Before Antietam
In 1860 he was a 37 year old bookbinder in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, IN. He enlisted in Vanderburgh County, IN and mustered on 7 June 1861 as a Private in Company E, 14th Indiana Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was captured at Chancellorsville, VA on 3 May 1863 and mustered out on 16 June 1864.
