Before Antietam

From Knox County, IN, he enlisted and mustered on 7 June 1861 as a Private in Company G, 14th Indiana Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot to his arm in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to US Army General Hospital (GH) #4 in Frederick, MD on 22 September, sent to the GH at Camp B on 15 January 1863, and was sent on to Baltimore on 7 March. He was discharged for disability on 20 April 1863 and began receiving a pension in May.
