Before Antietam

He came to America with his family in 1849 and in 1860, going by Adam, was a 22 year old living with printer John Trochlick and family at Evansville in Vanderburgh County, IN. He enlisted and mustered on 7 June 1861 as a Private in Company E, 14th Indiana Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He mustered out with his company in Indianapolis on 16 June 1864.

After the War

By 1870 and to at least 1900 he was a drayman (wagon driver/hauler) in Evansville, IN.
