Before Antietam

In 1860 he was a 20 year old farmer living with his parents and 7 siblings on their farm at Alfordsville in Daviess County, IN. He enlisted and mustered on 7 June 1861 as a Private in Company C, 14th Indiana Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the leg and possibly captured in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862 and died shortly after.
